30 Effective Call-to-Action Phrases for Growth-Driven Websites

In today’s post, I’m going to share 30 effective call to action (CTA) examples that you can use on your artist website and/or social media.

If you’re wondering what a call to action is in this context, and why you should care about them, Canva’s definition is helpful:

”The call to action is a proven marketing method of engaging the interest of your customer to encourage them to interact with your brand in the way you’ve suggested, whether that is to purchase your product or find out more about your services.”

This strategy relates to selling your art online, but it’s about so much more than sales. When used effectively, your call to action copy will compel your audience to tap or click, which then leads them to something of value related to their needs or interests.

Different people respond to different calls to action, so this requires giving some thought to who you serve, and what they need or want, as well as how you want them to move through your website, and how you want to nurture those relationships.

Below is a list of 30 powerful CTA’s that are highly compatible with artist and creative businesses. Some are pretty standard because they have been proven to work, but feel free to experiment with the wording associated with each action, based on your creative voice and your target audience.

According to HubSpot data, personalized CTAs are 42% more effective at nudging people to take action!

So, instead of saying “Buy now” you could say something like “Why wait?” or (a little more cheeky) “Avoid FOMO.” Your wording might be informal, or more soulful, or playful. You get the idea. Remember that friendly and approachable language helps reinforce the importance of building relationships with your fans, followers and customers.

You may have noticed that CTAs are generally added to websites as buttons. Most people’s attention span is very short, so it’s an effective way to capture their attention within a page layout.

If you haven’t already done so, see if you can include a call to action on every page of your website. Because CTA’s provide ideal opportunities to invite your visitors to strengthen their engagement with your work, you can also consider linking to other relevant areas within your site. These ‘Internal links’ are helpful to keeping your visitors on your site longer, and are also helpful to improving SEO on your website.

It’s time to get creative and add some fresh CTAs to your site! Write, rewrite and experiment until you find what works best on your site (use your site analytics to measure change).
