Wix and Squarespace are both great website builder platforms, but they also stack up very differently based on where you currently are in your business journey, and where you might want to take it in the future. I wrote a blog post that includes a comparison of both website builders, so you can identify some of the features that are important to you at a glance. Read it here.

The answer to this question really boils down to what kind of features and functionality you’re looking for, as well as how comfortable you are with the tech side of things.
Both Squarespace and Wordpress offer powerful solutions, but they also have distinct advantages and disadvantages, so I’ve written a blog post here where I break it all down for you.
If you’re like most of my clients, you’ll find that Squarespace is a breeze to learn in comparison. Plus, Squarespace takes care of any and all technical updates behind the scenes so you don’t have to!

Before diving into Squarespace, you don't necessarily need an existing Squarespace account or domain. The first step involves registering for Squarespace, which grants you access to your new website (If you’re new to Squarespace you can take advantage of a 20% discount on your first year if you use my affiliate link). From there, you can start personalizing your site by replacing text and images to suit your aesthetic and objectives. It helps to organize these digital materials in advance, to make the process as seamless as possible. Once you've finalized these updates and are ready to publish, you'll be prompted to upgrade your account and select a membership plan that aligns with your needs.

If you already have a Squarespace website, you can indeed use these templates alongside your existing site. Within your Squarespace dashboard, you have the capability to manage multiple websites. When you purchase a template and install it, it will appear as a separate website within your dashboard, alongside your existing one.
This means that the two websites will remain completely independent of each other. However, if you decide to proceed with the new template, you'll need to manually transfer all your content from your old website to the new one. While transferring basic page content is relatively straightforward, it might require more effort if you have a significant number of blog posts or a large shop inventory.
For shop inventories, you can simplify the process by exporting and reimporting using a CSV file. However, transferring blog posts can be more challenging since there's currently no direct method for transferring them between websites. If you have a substantial number of blog posts, this manual transfer could become quite labor-intensive.
If you're unsure about the best course of action, particularly if you have a large volume of content, feel free to reach out to us. We can provide guidance on the most suitable option for your specific situation.

Indeed, transitioning to a new website can have ramifications on your SEO. It's common for your site's search ranking to experience fluctuations during this period. However, it's important to note that SEO tends to stabilize and improve over the first few months following the launch of a new site. To preempt any potential SEO disruptions, it's advisable to optimize your new site thoroughly before its launch. One critical aspect is ensuring that your new URLs match the old ones to prevent any broken links, or setting up redirects. Squarespace offers valuable insights on preserving SEO integrity during the transition process. Should you have any inquiries or apprehensions regarding this, don't hesitate to contact us for personalized assistance.
